Target Audience for this Training

The AV‑022 Scaffold Inspector training course is designed for employees assigned by their employer to control, inspect, or supervise scaffolding, including fixed scaffolds, mobile scaffolds, and suspended scaffolds. This pertains to employees who are regularly required to verify whether a scaffold can still be safely accessed and utilized. This target group includes individuals within their organization responsible for identifying deviations, compiling inspection reports, and declaring scaffolds safe for use or decommissioning them. They must be capable of recognizing safety risks, assessing stability and load capacity, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

Admission Requirements for this Training:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be medically fit.
  • Proficiency in the language of this training is required. (This course is available in NL, FR, and ENG – other languages are available upon request)
  • Valid identification (ID card or driver's license)

Course Content

Legislation and Standards:

  • Relevant legislation concerning work at height and scaffolding.
  • Standards and regulations for various types of scaffolding.
  • Authorities of all involved parties

Risks and Hazards:

  • Risks associated with working at height.
  • Risks associated with changing weather conditions.
  • Risks associated with improper loading.

Types of Scaffolding:

  • Fixed Scaffolding
  • Mobile Scaffolding
  • Suspended Scaffolding
  • Strength Classes and Areas of Application

Scaffolding Components and Technical Knowledge:

  • Components, Characteristics, Requirements, and Rejection Criteria
  • Anchorage Systems: Types and Proper Application
  • Diagonals, Ledgers, and Stability Principles
  • Working Platforms: Stability, Loading, and Load-bearing Capacity

Access and Safety:

  • Requirements for Access, Passageways, and Delimitation
  • Grounding of Scaffolding
  • Fall Protection and Edge Protection

Inspection and Observation:

  • Use of Checklists:
    • Erected Scaffolding
    • Mobile Scaffolding
    • Suspended Scaffolding

Practical Section:

  • Inspection of an Erected Scaffolding
  • Inspection of a Mobile Scaffolding
  • Use of Checklists
  • Reporting of Findings
  • Identification of Safe / Unsafe Situations
  • Application of Correct Rejection Criteria

Practical requirements for participants:

  • Safety Footwear
  • Safety helmet
  • Work gloves
  • Fall protection (harness and lanyards)
  • Identification document

Participants who do not possess these items will be unable to attend.
Our organization does not provide PPE.

Practical requirements for clients:

As a client, you are required to provide a mobile scaffold and a fixed scaffold (preferably a system scaffold) to enable candidates to practice scaffold erection and dismantling.

You are responsible for providing a training room equipped with electrical outlets.
Should you not have projection equipment or a monitor, our organization can supply these.

Important information regarding online training courses:

For every online course, the practical component must be reserved separately. The practical sessions are always conducted at the client's location. Without a correctly booked practical component, the certificate will not be valid. Each participant must register via our website at least 2 days in advance. This registration is mandatory for attendance tracking and for the timely receipt of all resources provided during the course.

To participate in the online training course, each trainee must possess:

  • A valid email address
  • A device with an internet connection (a large-screen device is recommended, as smartphone screens are typically too small to adequately view the course content).
  • A functional webcam.

The webcam must remain active throughout the entire session to ensure participants' presence and engagement in the training. During specific examination periods, a screen share may also be requested.
