Legal Framework of this Training

The IS-005 training fully aligns with Belgian legislation regarding the safe use of work equipment. The Royal Decree of August 12, 1993, concerning the use of work equipment (Codex on Well-being at Work – Title VI, Chapter I), obligates employers to permit the operation of MEWPs solely by employees who have received sufficient training and instruction. This course ensures that participants satisfy these statutory requirements and are proficient in operating an MEWP safely, correctly, and responsibly.

Admission Requirements for this Training:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be medically fit.
  • Participants must be proficient in the language of instruction. (This training is available in Dutch, French, Portuguese, and English – other languages are available upon request).
  • Valid identification (ID card or driver's license)

Course Content

  • Safety and Legislation: An overview of pertinent laws and regulations.
  • Types of MEWPs and their Application: An overview of various MEWP types and their respective applications.
  • Stability and Load Charts: Comprehension of MEWP stability and the interpretation of load charts.
  • MEWP Safety Devices: An examination of safety features and emergency systems.
  • Daily Inspection: Procedures for conducting daily checks and routine maintenance.
  • Correct and Safe Operation: Techniques for the secure operation of MEWPs.
  • Safety Regulations and LMRA: Application of safety regulations and the execution of a Last-Minute Risk Analysis (LMRA).

Practical Section:

The practical component comprises various exercises designed to safely utilize all machine movements, including the operation of a scissor lift.

Practical requirements for participants:

  • Safety Footwear
  • Fall Arrest Harness
  • Safety Helmet (Hard Hat)
  • Identification document

Participants who do not possess these items will be unable to attend.
Our organization does not provide PPE.

Practical requirements for clients:

Training at the Academy:

  • We provide all necessary machinery and a dedicated training area.

On-site Training:

  • The client must provide the following:
    • Articulated Boom Lift
    • Scissor Lift (if feasible)
    • Practice Area (cones and obstacles are advantageous)
    • A training room equipped with an internet connection and electrical power supply.
    • A monitor or projector; if these are not available, we can provide them.

Important information regarding online training courses:

For every online course, the practical component must be reserved separately. Upon reservation and/or inquiry, we will provide you with the correct information and availability. Without a properly booked practical component, the certificate will not be valid. Each participant must register via our website at least 2 days in advance. This registration is mandatory for attendance tracking and for the timely receipt of all resources provided during the training.

To participate in the online training course, each trainee must possess:

  • A valid email address
  • A device with an internet connection (a large-screen device is recommended, as smartphone screens are typically too small to adequately view the course content).
  • A functional webcam.

The webcam must remain active throughout the entire session to ensure participants' presence and engagement in the training. During specific examination periods, a screen share may also be requested.
