Target Audience for this Training
The IS-006 course “Rigging and Guiding of Critical Loads” is legally mandatory for personnel in the (petro)chemical sector and port companies in Belgium. This training is essential for anyone involved in the lifting and moving of critical loads, as stipulated by Belgian welfare legislation. Achieving the IS-006 certificate ensures that employees comply with safety standards and possess the competencies to work safely and efficiently.
Admission Requirements for this Training:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be medically fit.
- Proficiency in the language of this training is required. (This course is available in NL, FR, and ENG – other languages are available upon request)
- Valid identification (ID card or driver's license)
Course Content
- Definition of Critical Loads: What constitutes a critical load and why is it significant?
- Risks Associated with Rigging and Moving Loads: Identifying and mitigating risks.
- Legislation and Standards: overview of relevant laws and regulations
- Inspections and Regulations: learning to assess the serviceability of rigging equipment.
- Fundamental Concepts of Load and Lifting Accessories: understanding the forces involved and the proper use of lifting equipment.
- Safe Rigging of Loads: Techniques and methods for the safe rigging of various types of loads.
Practical Section:
The practical training includes lifting loads using various rigging accessories, encompassing both critical and non-critical loads.
Practical requirements for participants:
- Safety Footwear
- Safety helmet
- Work gloves
- Identification document
Participants who do not possess these items will be unable to attend.
Our organization does not provide PPE.
Practical requirements for clients:
Training at the Academy:
- We provide lifting and rigging equipment, as well as the location and necessary apparatus.
On-site Training:
- The client must provide the following:
- Lifting device (overhead crane or rotating telehandler)
- Webbing slings
- Chain slings
- Chain hoist
- Objects for lifting, including those with known and unknown centers of gravity.
- A training room equipped with an internet connection and electrical power supply.
- A monitor or projector; if these are not available, we can provide them.

Important information regarding online training courses:
For every online course, the practical component must be reserved separately. Upon reservation and/or inquiry, we will provide you with the correct information and availability. Without a properly booked practical component, the certificate will not be valid. Each participant must register via our website at least 2 days in advance. This registration is mandatory for attendance tracking and for the timely receipt of all resources provided during the training.
To participate in the online training course, each trainee must possess:
- A valid email address
- A device with an internet connection (a large-screen device is recommended, as smartphone screens are typically too small to adequately view the course content).
- A functional webcam.
The webcam must remain active throughout the entire session to ensure participants' presence and engagement in the training. During specific examination periods, a screen share may also be requested.
The practical session can be easily scheduled via email or telephone.
