Target Audience for this Training

The BA4 training is intended for employees who work in the vicinity of electrical installations but do not possess extensive technical knowledge. They must, however, comprehend electrical risks to ensure safe work practices.

These employees must be aware of the inherent risks and safe operational procedures, yet they remain under the supervision of a BA5-qualified individual when exposed to potential hazards.

The BA5 classification is also stipulated in the AREI (General Regulations for Electrical Installations), Book 1, Chapter 9.2. A BA5-qualified individual is a skilled employee who, based on their knowledge, training, or experience,

Employers are required to recognize employees as BA5-qualified only when they demonstrably possess sufficient competence. The BA5 certificate constitutes a written declaration of authorization from the employer, clearly specifying the permitted installations and tasks.

Legal Framework of this Training

The BA4 classification originates from the General Regulations for Electrical Installations (AREI), Book 1, Chapter 9.2. Employees holding a BA4 authorization are considered instructed persons who have received adequate training regarding electrical risks or who operate under the supervision of a skilled BA5-qualified individual.

The Codex on Well-being at Work stipulates that only employees with demonstrable competencies are permitted to perform electrical work, directly referencing the AREI categories for this purpose.

A BA4 certificate is issued by the employer based on an electrical risk analysis, the training received, and the instructions provided to the employee. Without a comprehensive risk analysis, a valid BA4 certificate cannot be issued.
